Georgia garnishment law advances from state Senate

A last-minute attempt to amend Georgia’s updated garnishment law was defeated Tuesday, and the state Senate voted to move it forward unchanged.

The law is an attempt to fix a flawed law that was called unconstitutional by a federal judge. In at least one county, the ruling has halted garnishments for months.
