In an alternate universe on Bizarro World -- or maybe that's the normal planet, and we're living on the backward, block-shaped world these days -- there's a Republican presidential candidate who doesn't generate headlines about whether he did or didn't suggest assassinating Hillary Clinton if she wins the presidency, and it's Clinton's campaign that is slowly circling the drain due to stories like these ( via the New York Times ):
"A new batch of State Department emails released Tuesday showed the close and sometimes overlapping interests between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department when Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state.
"The documents raised new questions about whether the charitable foundation worked to reward its donors with access and influence at the State Department, a charge that Mrs. Clinton has faced in the past and has always denied.
"In one email exchange, for instance, an executive at the Clinton Foundation in 2009 sought to put a billionaire donor in touch with the United States ambassador to Lebanon because of the donor's interests there.
"In another email, the foundation appeared to push aides to Mrs. Clinton to help find a job for a foundation associate. Her aides indicated that the department was working on the request."
These are some of the emails Clinton did not turn over to the State Department because she and her attorneys didn't consider them "work-related." Arranging meetings with ambassadors and pushing people to be hired aren't work-related? I guess that depends upon what the meaning of the word "work" is.
In this alternate universe, voters would also be turning away from Hillary due to her absolute inability to tell the truth when, as recently last week , she was still unable to manage a clear, consistent and honest explanation for the FBI's investigation into her use of a private email server while at State. They wouldn't have to decide whether they'd rather have a practiced liar or an unrehearsed one .
Maybe instead of Mars, NASA should be aiming to get us to that planet, wherever it is.
