The state Senate is expected to vote on five bills today, including SB 283 -- which will allow school systems to teach students about the history of “traditional winter celebrations” and will allow students and school system staff to greet each other using terms like “Merry Christmas” “Happy Hanukkah” and “Happy holidays.”
Outside the Capitol, Sen. Josh McKoon, R- Columbus, will join the Capitol Coalition of Conservative Leaders at noon for a news conference announcing the coalition’s 2014 legislative priorities. That will be held in the Senate Press Conference Room.
We’re also monitoring any weather-related developments and we will be attending Gov. Nathan Deal’s 1:30 visit to Westlake High School in Fulton County to thank faculty for keeping students safe during last week’s winter storm.
