Paul Ryan's favorite PAC: 'San Francisco hearts Ossoff'

House Speaker Paul Ryan’s favorite super PAC released another attack ad Monday linking Jon Ossoff to the GOP’s favorite city to pick on. And this time, San Francisco probably won’t be targeting the group with a cease-and-desist letter.

The last anti-Ossoff ad unleashed by the Congressional Leadership Fund led San Francisco officials to demand that it be pulled because it featured the city’s iconic cable cars in the closing shot. The group quietly changed that shot to footage of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The latest ad ends with that same image: A digitally-placed banner of Ossoff and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi flapping in the breeze below the bridge. Like the previous ad, it also includes actors dressed as hippies and hipsters professing their love for the former congressional aide.

“San Francisco hearts Ossoff,” says one in the new ad.

The ad is the second in the runoff by the Congressional Leadership Fund, a super PAC with close ties to Ryan that has spent about $6.5 million in the race - now the most expensive U.S. House contest on record. The group features 90 full-time field workers who aim to reach 200,000 households before the vote.

Ossoff has dismissed the ads linking him to Pelosi and San Francisco, saying they're ripped from the same "tired" GOP playbook that has targeted other Democrats in past cycles.

Ossoff faces Republican Karen Handel in the nationally-watched June 20 runoff, and GOP groups consider it a must-win. Republicans have held the district for decades, but Ossoff’s near-miss of a victory in last month’s special election has conservatives spooked.
